Hawaiian programs as Evil Empire

Ken Conklin uses Reagan's passing to go on a rant in the Maui News about Hawaiian programs, referring to them as the "Evil Empire" and comparing Hawaiian charter schools to madrassas of Saudi Arabi.

Concepts for Hawaii, an homage to President Reagan

Years ago, President Reagan spoke two phrases everyone remembers. His powerful language applies in Hawaii 2004.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs boasts of 160 government programs. Each one is racially exclusionary. Every one of them is a brick in a growing wall of apartheid. Rice v. Cayetano removed the first brick from that wall. Arakaki I removed another brick, and Arakaki II seeks to remove the cornerstone. Paraphrasing President Reagan: People of Hawaii, tear down that wall.

Besides those 160-plus government racial programs there's Kamehameha Schools' racial admissions policy. Organizations committed to racial separatism reach their octopus-like tentacles into most of Hawaii's large, powerful institutions. They demand that banks, law firms, universities, schools and other "service providers" knuckle under to their political agenda.

There are now "host culture" tax-supported charter schools and other public schools infiltrated by Kamehameha. They brainwash children with twisted history like the madrassas of Saudi Arabia. Our governor and Legislature lobby Congress for the Akaka Bill to defend and expand this - dare we call it - Evil Empire.

Like Reagan, we've gradually been forgetting things - the basic principles of unity and equality. Let's stop heading into the twilight of a long goodbye.
