Kamehameha petition a small step on the way

It seems comments or suggestions one might have in regards to Kamehameha Schools or any immersion program or sovereignty are always met with opposition from someone with a bug in his ear or a gripe in his throat.
I guess there is no satisfying everyone.

But this is a time when we need a mass consensus that demands an open forum with Kamehameha Schools and all other Hawaiian groups interested in paving Hawaii's future - a coming together where we can form ideas that work for the good of the whole and to find the best way to keep Hawaiian culture and language alive and available to future generations along with finding ways to create new programs for those less fortunate because of education or finances.

Nobody says that signing the petition for Kamehameha Schools is the answer to all the problems that face the Hawaiian culture, its language and its children's future, but it is a step closer to the light that all Hawaiians seek. It's about creating a voice that's loud enough to be heard, and once it is heard then the ideas, wants and needs of that voice can be addressed.

If someone comes along and shows me a better path, a better opportunity to unite as many voices as this petition does, I'll take it. Until then, sign and be counted as a voice and the future may reward you.

Ask not what Hawaii can do for you, but what you can do for Hawaii.
