Sherry Broder graduated from U.C. Berkeley
Law School in 1975 and has practiced law in Hawaii since 1976. She was
Board Counsel for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs for almost twenty-five years
and continues to defend the constitutionality of OHA and other Native Hawaiian
programs in on-going litigation. She served as class counsel for the 9,500
victims of torture during the dictatorship of Philippine President Ferdinand
Marcos and won a $2 billion verdict, believed to be the largest personal injury
verdict in U.S. history.
Bill Meheula graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 1978. In 1992-94, he was lead counsel in representing beneficiaries of the Hawaiian Home Lands Trust in litigation against the State of Hawai`i for breaches of fiduciary duty that resulted in a $600 million settlement. In 1994, Bill received the Hawaii State Bar Association's "Justice Award" for his pro bono work in that case and other services to the Hawaiian community. Since 2003, he has represented the Office of Hawaiian Affairs in litigation against the State of Hawai`i to obtain its right to ceded land revenues.
