Leaked SCHHA memo reveals plan for federal recognition

This is apparently an intercepted/leaked confidential memo sent out by the SCHHA to a select group of recipients which outlines their plan for continuing efforts at federal recognition through an executive order,  making SCHHA the recognized “nation” of Hawaiians, and getting DHHL lands and OHA funds.

I can’t verify its authenticity or source of origin myself, but I did double check with the source I received it from who vouched for its veracity. Figure this is information Hawaiians should be aware of…

Update on SCHHA & Roll Commission Strategy for Hawaiian Nation – For Your Eyes Only

Aloha SCHHA Homesteaders,

This is a short update on our strategy for federal recognition of the SCHHA and the recent meetings the Roll Commissioners have held with OHA Trustees and the Hawaiian Civic Clubs.

Years ago, with Robin & CNHA’s help we created a plan for federal recognition under the US Interior process. At that time we changed our name from the Statewide Council of Hawaiian Homes Association to the Sovereign Council of Hawaiian Homelands Assembly. Following this name change, Robin submitted to the US Department of Interior an application for Federal Recognition as an Indian Nation. Interior could not process our application because Hawaiians were not Indians.

Now that the Akaka Bill has been amended to say that Hawaiians are Indians, we can take the next step, getting Interior to move on our application. Although the Akaka Bill cannot move in Congress because the House is controlled by Republicans, we can go to Obama to have him issue an Executive ORDER to Interior directing them to move our application. According to Jade, the White House Indian staffers, including Kimberly Teehee have been supportive ever since Obama took office.

The Hawaiian Civic Clubs have approved the Hawaiian/Indian change in the Akaka Bill, and the Roll Commission has hired Aulani Apoliona and Soulee to facilitate with lobbying, we know that the White House will support our initiative. Inouye & Mazie will be assisting on the White House side as well. OHA Trustees have approved the approach and already voted weeks ago to give the Roll Commission about 2 million more dollars. The Kau Inoa  registration has been turned over to the Roll Commission and they will send out letters to every Kau Inoa registrant to get their approval for the Roll Commission to use their data for the Roll Commission effort.

We should all be thankful to our sisters Robin, Jade and Mahealani. Jade has done an incredible job in getting Interior on our side, but the feds were happy to assist once they understood we do not need money or land from the USA, only help to move this along.

As SCHHA members we have DHHL land and we can get the funds in OHA set aide for our new nation. This is also a good way for our Hawaiians as well, no need to join one nation, the SCHHA Nation will be “recognized” first and any other Sovereign group can also apply. There are many Indian Nations and there can be many Hawaiian Nations too.

As Senator says, there are many ways to skin a cat. Please share this only with SCHHA members, do not distribute to others including Civic Clubs. We do not have to go to the Congress. There are other ways to get Federal Recognition, including the Indian administrative process. You can find it by googleing 25 CFR Part 83.

Update: Here’s an update from Leon Siu further discussing the authenticity of the memo, and more importantly of the substance of the scheme it reveals.

Aloha kakou,

The controversy is growing over the memo that was recently leaked, revealing a plot by certain parties to be declared a “federally recognized” American Indian tribe so they can create a “Native Hawaiian governing entity” to take control of Hawaiian assets currently under OHA, DHHL, etc. Here is an update:

For those who asked, the Koani Foundation (who released the memo on Monday) will not reveal its sources nor where it was intercepted, but is absolutely certain the memo authentic.

But the real question should not be who wrote the memo or how Koani got it, it should be whether the diabolical scheme the memo reveals is real. Asking the wrong question rarely gets you the right answer.

So far Robin Danner (the head of CNHA)  and Kamaki Kanahele (the head of SCHAA) have both responded privately to individual inquirers by casting aspersions on the anonymity of the writer and dismissing it as a mean-spirited prank by disgruntled activists. But neither of them have publicly or privately denied the substance of the memo and the devious scheme it reveals. If there is no truth to the contents of the memo, they could easily put it to rest with a public statement denouncing the scheme.

Bringing the issue out into the open accomplishes a number of beneficial things. The named conspirators either have to own up to it and try to explain and justify their outlandish, greedy scheme; or they have to flatly, publicly deny it, which means once they do so, they won’t be able to execute their plan. Either way, we win. Remember, this tactic of exposing backdoor maneuvering has been successfully employed several times in the past to stop both Dan Inouye and Robin Danner.

Since Monday when the memo was released, people have pointed out a slew of minor, seemingly unrelated news items that now, in light of the memo, show how Inouye, the Danners and SCHAA have been quietly vetting this strategy to gain federal recognition directly through the president or the DOI. They’ve been plotting and positioning themselves for some time. This intercepted internal memo connects the dots and reveals the plot. To know the strategy of your opponent is a major game changer.

Anyway, Koani sounded the alarm and stole the conspirators’ element of surprise. They either have to come out into the open and fight, or stand down and crawl back into their holes.

A hui hou,
Leon

    Heh!

We aren’t idians! Federal recognition, what? A lame attempt to continue U.S. HEWA!
If the parents of these numb nuts paid money for their schooling they should be
full of shame! Po Ho da money!

Indian! Why not change American to Hawaiian, they owe us anyway! Dumb A$$!

How about flying the Hawaiian flag over the U.S. wouldn’t that be better than a Chinese flag over the U.S.? Who screwed up in 1893, the U.S. did!

The only way to skin their cat involves getting their nose dirty brown!! Indian! Huh!

We want recognition and reparation on an international level, not from a reject country!

The U.S. is broke! They are facing a “Financial Cliff” all based on honor or treason?
Guess what the foundation of the U.S. is built upon? You got it, treason!!!
There is no honor in treason no matter how good the story!
If the foundation of the U.S. was built upon honor the financial cliff wouldn’t be an issue!

Sounds like conspiracy for usurpation of sovereignty and confiscation of land in an occupied territory. Both are war crimes. Once they actually do it then they can be brought up on war crimes charges. Remember what ever they say or do can be used against them. According to the laws of war, Geneva and Hauge conventions, civilians along with gov’t. officals can be prosecuted for war crimes.

Remember the debacle perpetrated upon the aboriginals of Alaska by the Danners and their corporate/political overlords. And yes, they want to do the same to Hawaiians. The American occupation of Hawai’i has margenalized Hawaiian Nationals to the point that we are now strangers in a strange land. And land is what they want. How sad that the sellout comes from within. But that’s just what the occuipiers want. No dirty hands. Just dirty money. And make no mistake: money is the bottom line. Aue.

  • I’m pretty sure it’s a fake. It’s too spot on as to what our people think or wish they think and they would never write it down anyway- especially the way it’s presented- if they did.
It plays right into everyone’s fears- it’s exactly OUR view of what they’re up to. They would never use the “Indian” thing and circulate it knowing it would probably become public. If you look at it that way it is exactly what someone would “fake” to get everyone a;; riled up at them.
It would not be hard to fake this because it’s what everyone wants to believe about them. Even if it is exactly what they think they’d never write it down and send it to a bunch of people.
    Think about it.

TODAY I encourage all Hawaiians to task ourselves to answer a single question…

    Is this GENOCIDE?

  • Linda

This is not true. I’m a member of the SCHHA and never received such a memo. In 2007 at the SCHHA convention the name change was made and that’s true, but all the rest is just more lies. The SCHHA has advocated fir the beneficiaries of the DHHL. It has discussed in its conventions all problems put before them as well as asked each island representative to bring the questions or concerns of beneficiaries to the table. The SCHHA has done more than people know to help with in legislative matters which would help or prohibit beneficiaries, by standing up to matters such as the real property taxes on our federal lands (DHHL) , pushing for beneficiary consultation by DHHL. In the past the DHHL moved on everything without any consultation. Made public the necessity to provide homes for beneficiaries. Introduced the lowering of the successorship of DHHL leases to 25% and in our last convention voted on introducing policy to lower the successorship to 12 1/2 %. This is what the SCHAA has done and always advocates for the beneficiaries. Yesterday the DHHL held a special meeting that who ever wrote these lies will probably find out…it was no secret but by invitation only by Jobie Masagatani to give the DHHL association leaders an opportunity to meet with the Dept. Of a Interior and Dept. of Justice. We were told we were ther to be better educated on their process and reason for coming to the Hawaiian community. The SCHHA chairman as well as others from the SCHHA were there but not once was it ever mentioned that it should be the government for the Hawaiians. It was said more than once that DHHL should be the government. So be careful where your finger is pinged cause you in for a Big surprise. It was said by beneficiaries that theseeople felt since DHHL is already governing over native Haeaiians or beneficiaries then shouldn’t it be the governing entity! FYI

  • Over 25 but under 50% Hawaiian

You know what makes me sick? All the support I put forth to “Hawaiian” recognition will not benefit my family at all because we are not recognize as “qualified Hawaiians” by DHHL, and will never live to see the day we MIGHT get support from the DHHL.
People tell me I should support the cause for Hawaiians…, for what? They tell me I should be proud to be Hawaiian and support groups for Hawaiian recognition…, for what? They tell me to join this group, or that group, because each group is the “right” group, LOL.
All I see are a bunch of “Hawaiian” organizations fighting for money cause they feel entitled to “free” money or land because our ancestors were wronged. DHHL discriminate against Hawaiians with less than 50% Hawaiian blood quantum. OHA appears to line the pockets and favor members of their administrative staff with monies meant for the Hawaiian population at large, publicly announcing grants AFTER the due date for required correspondence deadlines or wording qualifications towards specific parties which for the most part, are wasted. Hawaiian radical groups do nothing but spout vindictive remarks to the “Whiteman’s Government” while hating on other “Hawaiian” organizations on their efforts for Hawaiian recognition.

What a bunch of crabs in a bucket.

My respect out to our few remaining 100% pure Hawaiians, one of which is my grandmother. But most 100% or “qualified” Hawaiians who are on the DHHL list, are being used by their mokupuna who are enough to inherit, but not enough to qualify. I admit, I sound like a hater. But unless you have struggled like me to support a struggling family, who works very hard for what few possessions I have, you would not understand how much support from DHHL would mean to me. I drive through the homestead lands to see rundown property, wasted land from oversized lots which families cannot tend to, and a wasteful amount of land that can be divided amongst Hawaiians who have been waiting for DECADES on the “waiting list” for a chance to obtain land, and build a safe haven here in Hawaii for their families.
To all the Hawaiians out there who are looking for free lunch tickets: Guess what bozos, you are not defined by your history. You make your own history and build your own success through your efforts. Would you rather perpetuate a lineage of hate and unfulfilled entitlement through your bloodlines or foster a real Hawaiian community/kingdom that is based on Trust, Unity, Aloha, and Hawaiians that work and earn what they deserve?
Sad to say, but I see more Hawaiians in the community who are not a part of any organization doing more good for the general Hawaiian population, then I see being done by “Hawaiian” organizations.

We have small pods of Hawaiians here and there, each backing their own belief. All being fueled by hate and vindication. All I see, correction – All the WORLD see’s, in regards to “Hawaiian organizations” are a bunch of unorganized and misaligned Hawaiians who are bickering and fighting for power, money, and control. None of which, I feel, should be given to any one person or organization any longer.

  • Over 25 but under 50% Hawaiian

I am not for or against this post, but my opinion is that articles such as this is aimed at nothing more then dividing Hawaiians. Every organization has it’s faults.

Hawaiians would be better off if you would redirect your energy towards building relationships between Hawaiian groups, opposed to fueling internal hate between Hawaiian groups.

To the “Over 25 less than 50…I understand your disappointment, but how is it that the Hawaiians fault.. that 75% of your lineage is from “another” ancestral land ? Which make you more there than here..Maybe you can inherit from your 100% grandmother .. or maybe you can teach your children to marry back into the Hawaiian line .. I am a 50% DHHL lessee and many none Hawaiian spouses and children invest into their DHHL Hawaiian families .. After all you have to pay rent somewhere..!!

  • Aoha everyone, before you do anything, read and educate yourself…The Danners are pilau and Kamaki, oh poor Kamaki, he i getting old and worn out…pretty soon make and Danner will be alone again, since Inouye passed she’s been scheming big time, taught by the best, “one arm bandit” in hell whre he is answering for his crime on that dead French woman whose ring he took off to put on his hand—and bachi, he lost his arm!

I would suggest you look at these websites:: “hawaiiankingdom.org” and “Annavonreitz.com”
as for the less than 50% don’t despair…God is in control…even with one % i you can show your genealogy and connection to people living in Hawaiian during the Kingdom period…know that what happened to create the DHHL Act, has all been changes politically, keep the faith.

When you have time, watch and listen to the: “Lance vs. Hawaiian Kingdom case” it is very informational and will give you a new lease on life…check everything out before you make comments, there is more than meets the eyes in today’s world.

Take care and let me also say, I believe this stupid memo can be added to tons of other “secret memos” sent out by those two clowns; Kamaki and Ete e”…Danners are pilau!
