Earthquake footage from Hana
If anyone is interested in seeing some earthquake
footage, there was someone staying at the Hotel Hana-Maui who happened to be
rolling a camera facing the ocean on Sunday, Oct. 15 when the 6.7 mag earthquake
struck. The person doing the footage had some relation with Inside Edition, and
videographer a friend of ours, Jay April, was brought in the next day (or two)
to try to get the footage converted and FTPd over to IE. They couldn't get it
working on the antiquated computer at the hotel, so he called me up looking for
a Mac and a high speed connection, and I ended up capturing the video off his
camera and sending it over to IE where it was shown that evening.
Jay has posted it on
YouTube. It isn't terribly dramatic, but it does give you a sense of
what the quake felt like and how long it went on (47 seconds).
