Unexploded ordnance found in Molokai landfill
I just had this image of the military like a
litter of un-house-trained puppies leaving little surprises all over the house
for you to find, in the bathtub, under the sofa, in the back of closet, in this
case behind the trash can... except instead of smelly dog poop it's explosive and chemical
munitions, depleted uranium,
PCBs, unexploded
ordnance...Maui
News item: The discovery of as many as 100 unexploded shells closed the Molokai landfill on Monday afternoon, said Maui County spokeswoman Mahina Martin.
Police secured the landfill, and a military explosive ordnance disposal team from Oahu was expected to arrive on Molokai this morning, she said.
According to Terry
Kekoolani, Hawaii now has more than 1000 contaminated sites.
