Posting again

As you have noticed if you are reading this, I have started posting to the blog again.

I was mainly stimulated by wanted to get word out about Boyle's presentations and followup, but I do plan to resume posting a bit more regularly now with the new year.

However, I don't plan to return to the previous level of activity, when I posted almost every day and was quite comprehensive in what I covered.

I will post when I feel like it and have time, and/or when there is something particularly noteworthy that I want to draw attention to or provide my comments on. I have no idea how often that will be. And I will likely stick more to items that are of direct relevance to issues of Hawaii's political status, and not so much on cultural issues or Hawaiian programs, which are interesting topics to me but just too much to try to cover with any regularity.

I found it quite interesting, after pretty much ignoring this blog for over three months, that when I checked the traffic logs, they had continued to climb higher each month, even though the site was almost totally inactive. I'm sure that a lot of this had to do with web searches that brought people into specific categories or entries, but that was satisfying to discover, because along with wanting to provide current updates, my intention in starting the blog in the first place was also to create an archive that could be searched and used later for research or whatever, so I'm glad that it does appear to be increasingly used this way even in the absence of regular updates.

I was worried that once I stopped posting, I would lose the momentum I had built up, particularly with regular readers, and it would be hard to start again. While that is probably true with some regular readers, it seems the momentum just continued to grow in general, and even some regular readers quickly posted comments or sent me emails, indicating that they (you) were still checking the site. So mahalo for that (even to my snarky detractors who are still coming back to give me a hard time).

aloha -- scott
